Winch Energy worked together with the Ugandan government to electrify 25 villages in Lamwo, Northern Uganda under the cap of the Promotion of Mini Grids for Rural Electrification (Pro Mini Grids) initiative, funded by the European Union (EU) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The project aims to provide clean renewable energy to off-grid communities in rural localities and support economic and social development. By displacing expensive and dangerous to health and environment energy sources such as kerosene lamps, torches and batteries with clean solar energy, Winch has brought local economic growth, access to productive use appliances, enhanced security, better education and health.
